This page is dedicated to the placement we do with the horses we deal with directly. We ask all of those who adopt a rescue or purchase a equine from us to write testimonials on our stable and the equine they receive. Some of the equine are picked by the people but we also do interviews and consult owners looking for a certain equine and we match them on their specifications.

Enjoy reading our testimonials and we hope you choose us the next time you are looking for an equine of all sorts, whether it being one of ours or one you would like us to help you find.

Congratulations Ashley in OH

Registered Appaloosa Mare

Re-homed in 2009

Testimonial:

I received Little Poco on 2/14/09. So far she has been wonderful. I took her into the barn and she fit right in. Got along great with my Thoroughbred gelding. Very calm, relaxed, and friendly. Comes up to me when I go out to the pasture and comes over to the gate to let me pet her. Description posted about horse was very accurate so far. Thank you. Very happy with my selection and I know I will continue to be happy with Little Poco in the future. Wonderful people to deal with. Great communication!!! Thank you very much and good luck in the future.

Sheza Lucky Ole Gal

Congratulations Jennifer and Kayla in PA

Registered Appendix Quarter Horse Mare

Re-homed in 2009

Testimonial:

I received Sheza Lucky Ole Gal and am so happy with my choice. I bought her for my 8 year old daughter and just couldn't be happier with how she is. She integrated with the 9 other horses in our barn like a dream. My daughter has ridden her on the trail and just loves her. She is so very sweet!! Great in the stall, ground manners are wonderful, and she is great with kids. She was everything they said she was and more! A very patient horse for a rider that is rebuilding her confidence after a bad experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a horse and would work with them again!! Rayne is very pleasant to deal with and very upfront and honest about the horses she deals with

Pumpkin A'la Mode

Congratulations Lisa in MD

Palomino Mini Mare

Re-homed in 2009

Testimonial:

Pumpkin is doing great; she loves her new friend Marley, a 5 yr. old paint. Pumpkin is the boss though. Pumpkin and Marley saw the farrier last week all is well. Farrier was impressed with how well their hooves are since it was so dry … (I did lots of hoof treatment this summer and it paid off). Pumpkin is very happy. One day this summer I had her tied near the front door with the screen door closed and she came in the house through the screen door into my kitchen, scared me to death but it was so funny she wanted to be with me. LOL! : )

Espresso Mocha Blast

Congratulations Devin in WV

Thoroughbred and Paso Fino Cross Mare

 Re-homed in 2009

Testimonial:

I received Mocha and I am very happy with her.  Mocha is everything they said she would be and we have bonded great. I loved how Missy and Rayne let me come out a couple of times and ride Mocha before I received her. They are great to work with and really care about their horses and the person who gets them. They are very honest about their horses and want to make sure it’s the right horse for you.  After I got Mocha home Rayne still keeps in touch with me to make sure Mocha is doing good and if I have any questions. I would recommend them to anyone and will deal with them in the future! Thank you so much!

Sudden Black Jack

Congratulations Shannon in VA

Black Tennessee Walker Gelding

Re-homed in 2009

Testimonial:

I love my new horse Jack! I found him on Equinenow.com and could tell from watching his (very well made) video that he was exactly what I was looking for in my ultimate trail horse. So, I decided to make the drive all the way from Northern Virginia, and I'm glad I did it. When I arrived there, I noticed that all the animals there were very relaxed, happy and friendly. To me that meant Jack was coming from a happy and healthy environment, which is important. And this pleasant environment definitely nurtured a sweet horse with great ground manners and training. Confirmation in a horse is important, but so is training and the handling they've received. Jack is smart and totally sane, which means he has been well cared for and he trusts people, which is priceless. I would highly recommend Sleepy Hollow Stables if you are looking for a horse. Jack is exactly what they said he would be (no surprises) and Rayne was very, very accommodating to us, with excellent communication, and my overall experience was wonderful. I will never forget my first ride on Jack in the beautiful hills of West Virginia! Thank you Rayne and SHS!

Nightmares Unwanted Midnight and Lancelot Of The Round

POA Mare and Pony Colt

Both re-homed together in 2010

Testimonial:

The ponies were originally received for my grandchildren, however they have worked their way into the hearts of everyone who sees them. My daughter who found them (Sarah) has sense come home with her baby Liam, who has been on both ponies along with their new black saddle. My daughter (Dee) is coming from Washington state in July and my grandson, Ronney, is just thrilled to hear that the ponies are here for he and his sister, Ella. Things are just great to wake up to our new pets and the ponies. Just love the attention as shown by their coming and whinning.

QH/Arabian Cross Gelding

Re-homed in 2011

Testimonial:

Buck as been with us for a month and it has been the best! He is an amazing horse. He fits into our family so well, he is not a one person horse he loves us all and does whatever we ask of him. Emily you did a great job matching us and Buck. He has given us some great family time together in just 4 short weeks. As for Buck and Pumpkin they get along great we have gone for a couple a rides and Pumpkin doesn't mind being behind Buck. We laugh at the change Pumpkin has made in attitude since Buck arrived. I just can't say thank you enough! You will always be a friend to our family and we believe in the great work you do for horses!

High Turbo Power

Congratulations Scott in WV

Appaloosa Mare

Re-homed in 2011

Testimonial:

Turbo is doing great in her new home. I was a bit reluctant to drive to SHS to see her. She was advertised as needing a confidant rider. I'm not much more than a beginner and have had horses for only two years. I took her for a ride and really didn't want to drive home without her. Didn't bring the horse trailer and I felt it was a little far to ride her home.  I may have not adopted her, but after meeting Rayne and seeing her confidence in me, I knew we(Turbo and I) would be a great match. I could tell that Rayne is interested in matching the horse to the rider. Rayne told me everything she could about turbo and gave me a free lesson before loading her up a few days later. I got Turbo home, rested her a little from the drive and took a short trail ride the same day.  Turbo was everything Rayne said she was. She likes to go under saddle and is a real fun ride. I hope to do more horse business in the future with SHS and would recommend them to anyone.
Rayne is currently helping me with two of my geldings and getting them back into riding shape. If you need a trainer or instructor, put her at the top of your list. She makes riding my geldings look effortless when they are typically ornery with me. I think they like her better.
Thanks Rayne for all the help and your great work with horses.

Epona Of The North

 Congratulations Birgit in CT

Haflinger/Morgan Cross Mare

Re-homed in 2011

Testimonial:

Epona arrived on 1/28/2011 at our place during the worst winter we have seen in a long time, a total of 84.1 inches so far! We had to make paths for the horses with the snow blower so they had a least a small area to stretch their legs in. She has settled in nicely and she has great work ethics. We already started her on driving lessons and she is doing fantastic. She is a very smart girl. She is a little pushy at times but backs off right away when we gently remind her that we are in charge. Rayne did a great job teaching her the basics and she has good ground manners. Everything she told us about Epona was true and we are very happy with her. We still have snow on the ground and can't wait to have more room to work with her more extensively. We love her and she makes a great addition to our family of one quarter horse, a mini mule, and a 6 months old Trakehner/Thoroughbred foal that belongs to my friend.

Percheron Mare and Quarter Horse Gelding

Re-homed  in 2011

Testimonial:

I can not say enough good things about SHS and about Rayne. I have wanted a horse since I was a little girl, have never met a little girl who didn't. I heard about SHS site thru a friend who had nothing but good things to say about Rayne and the work she does with horses. I must say my friend was right :)  I thought about getting a horse for most of my adult life, but was afraid that I would be biting off more then I could chew, didn't know who I could trust, didn't know if I would be treated fairly, didn't know if I could find a person who would be honest enough to say yes this is the horse for you OR  no this is not the horse for you. Then I got to know Rayne, she makes you feel at ease, is honest, helpful, forthcoming with all information, she will help where ever she is needed, she not only has the horses best interest in mind, but also your best interest in mind. She will tell you no, if she thinks you are not ready or if she simply doesn't have a horse suitable to your specific needs. She really cares about humans and animals alike. If she feels you are doing something wrong or something right she will be honest and tell you her opinion,if she doesn't know? She will tell you she doesn't know..I have asked many, many questions of Rayne and she is always quick to respond, helpful and honest. She has even helped me with my computer skills a time or two, helps where ever she is needed.

I purchased two horses from Rayne, one for me and, at the last minute, one for my daughter. I could not of bought myself a more precious, loving, well trained horse if I would of paid a million dollars (which I didn't) for her.I always knew I wanted a horse, never thought I would end up with one like her, big, beautiful baby. My daughter is a complete and total novice with horses, had a few lessons when she was 7-8 yrs old. Again I could not of picked a better horse for her, he is perfect for her. Gentle, kind, loving, lazy, big baby of a horse, he loves my daughter and she is soooo thankful for him and loves him very much.I asked her what she would like to include in this testimonial and her words are " thank you Rayne, you do an awesome job with the horses and you are an awesome person". I couldn't agree more! I not only consider Rayne a wonderful horsewoman, but a wonderful person and friend. I feel fortunate to have met her, to have learned of SHS, to know the wonderful, compassionate, work that Rayne does. I hope SHS and Rayne are in my life for many, many years to come.

Moonlights Enchanted Dream

Congratulations Scott in WV

TWH Mare

Re-homed in 2011

Testimonial:

The family is really enjoying Moon. This horse is just wonderful and is getting along well with the rest of the horses. Her weight and muscle tone is building nicely and her energy level has increased four fold. She has been quite a confidence boost for the wife and kids which is the reason I purchased her. She accepts regular rides and is currently at walk, trot, and canter with everyone. I have been reluctant to ride her due to her weight and my size at 6' and 200+ pounds. I took her for a ride yesterday, and walked, trotted, and cantered her. Wow, what a smooth gait. No problems at all. You were right, she was the horse that I needed for the family. Again, thanks for your help and matching us up with a wonderful horse. The last horse we adopted from them in 2011, High Turbo Power AKA "Turbo" is at her optimum weight and is a great addition to the family. I just don't understand how families can neglect such great horses and don't ask for intervention prior to reducing them to such poor health. I have also rescued dogs in the past. It seems that an animal that has been mistreated turns into such a great pet and does everything they can to please it's new owner, likely due to their new circumstances. I would recommend a rescue to any family. A rescue gives an animal the chance at a great life and it gives the family a chance at a great animal that is so willing. Thank you Rayne and keep saving those horses.

Testimonial:

I received Ferrari and I could not be more happy with her. When I got her, her mane was shaved off from a previous accident from another horse. I was afraid the other horses I own was going to be mean to her also, lucky for her she took up with the leader of the pack and got along with everyone! I was looking for a horse you could put anyone on and not have to worry and that's just what I got! I found her online and everything that was said about her was totally true! Actually it was kind of a freak accident I got her the day I did! I lived about 4 hours from where she was located and I had been watching her for a while, I went to southern VA that day to look at another horse with all intentions of bringing it home, lucky for me it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. My husband and I were about to go home when I thought wait a minute we aren't to far away from that other horse I have been looking at. A phone call and a half an hour later I was looking into her eyes! I took her around the barn a few times and we loaded her up for the long ride home! Needless to say she is hands down the best horse we have now, I often find myself wishing I had about 5 more just like her!! So thank you Sleepy Hollow Stables for giving me the best horse I could have! She definitely has a forever home!

Received Moon Beam in excellent condition & a relaxed gentle temperament. Totally smooth gaited, with no trot nor pace, which are all the requirements I expect in a Walker.
